BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson praised local government units (LGUs) in the province that were among the 493 recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Lacson told reporters during a Christmas party with the media Wednesday night that he is also happy that the province made it to the SGLG award this year.

The SGLG awardees from Negros Occidental are the cities of Victorias, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan, Sagay, San Carlos, and Talisay, as well as the municipalities of La Castellana and Manapla.

“I guess we have the most number of awardees and I think it is very laudable, I congratulate the LGUs that made it to the SGLG award,” he added.

Rep. Alfredo “Thirdy” Marañon III (2nd district, Negros Occ) said he is proud that all the three LGUs in his district are SGLG awardees.

These are Cadiz City, Sagay City and Manapla (CASAMA).

“It showed that the local chief executives of these three LGUs are working very hard on what is needed by their constituency,” Marañon pointed out.

He lamented that last year, only Sagay City made it as Cadiz City and Manapla came short of the prerequisites.

The SGLG is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program that aims to continue to uphold its commitment to bringing about inclusive and people-oriented reforms that will enable the LGUs to foster a culture of good governance amid the challenges in the local government landscape.

The awarding rites have been set by DILG on December 13 and 14.

Being an SGLG awardee is among the criteria for local government employees to avail of Performance Based Bonus, which is equivalent to 60 percent of their basic salaries.

Only seven local government units in Negros Occidental are eligible to grant the 2022 performance-based bonus (PBB) to its officials and employees.

Provincial government workers did not qualify this year.

In a notice issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government, eligible for the granting of 2022 PBB are the LGU officials and employees of the cities of Bago, Himamaylan, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Talisay, and Hinoba-an town.

The highly urbanized city of Bacolod, which is not under the province, is also an SGLG awardee.
