BACOLOD City – Mayor Raymund Tongson turned over a total of P20,000 cash incentives to two residents of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental who were among the topnotchers in the September 2023 Licensure Professional Examination for Teachers (LET).
Seventh placer Sheila Marie Delgado, and ninth placer Jeriel Grace Mabulay each received a P10,000 incentive yesterday.
Both were graduates of West Visayas State University (WVSU) in Himamaylan City in June this year.
Delgado, a native of Barangay Caradio-an, garnered a 93.20 percent rating, while Mabulay, who is from Barangay Carabalan, got a 92.80 percent rating in the exam.
WVSU-Himamaylan also scored a 100 percent passing rate among its 44 first-time takers while three out of the five retakers successfully passed the exams.
The school’s overall performance was rated at 95 percent.
Tongson expressed his heartfelt congratulations to both Himamaylanon topnotchers and their batchmates who passed the exam.
“This is a testament that the quality education provided by WVSU-Himamaylan Campus complemented by our city government’s academic support programs can produce success stories and competent graduates,” the mayor said in a statement.
Tongson said that these accomplishments not only honor the campus but also inspire more students in Himamaylan to do well in their academic and board exams.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 23,782 out of 50,593 or 47.01 percent of elementary teachers and 53,995 out of 95,969 or 56.26 percent of secondary teachers passed the LET which took place at testing centers located in Bangkok, Thailand, and at 40 testing centers around the country on September 24.
