ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The town of Maayon in the province of Capiz is celebrating its Municipal and Religious Fiesta on January 23-30, 2024.
The launching of the 2024 Hil-o Hil-o festival received a warm reception at SM City Roxas on January 20.
According to Maayon Mayor Raymond “MonMon” Malapajo, “Hil-o Hil-o showcases mutual support among our kasimanwas in any form for the betterment of our beloved hometown.”
The “Lin-ay sang Maayon” was also presented with municipal and barangay officials, department heads, and employees of the local government unit of Maayon in attendance.
“This is a great opportunity to celebrate Hil-o Hil-o Festival as well as the municipal and religious fiesta of Maayon on January 23 to 30, 2024, as a thanksgiving to the bountiful harvest from the blessings of the Almighty for the town and the lives of every Maayonanon,” Malapajo said.
Many of this year’s activities are celebrated annually, but the mayor is confident that some of the new events will be introduced and become added attractions to capture the attention of tourists and Maayonanons based around the world.
Some of the captivating events were celebrity bands like Lily on January 23, Paraluman and Shamrock on January 26, and December Avenue on January 30.
The fiesta activities started on January 20, Maayon Day, at Robinson’s Place in Roxas City and a mass on January 23.
The “Puto sa Tuba” slow food workshop is a must-see event and unique recipe made in the agri-tourism municipality of Maayon.
The longest “Agro-Fair” is another event to watch where you can buy cheaper root crops and other agricultural products, for which Maayonanons are very blessed.
One of the much-awaited events every year is “Sadsad,” held on the major streets of the town, with dance rhythms showcasing our rich culture and unique artistry, Malapajo said.
The fireworks display is always flooded by spectators coming from different villages, including domestic travelers, to be part of the colorful fiesta event of the year.
Other activities laid down for the festivity are the Parade, Grand Opening, Drum and Lyre Exhibition, DepEd Night, Citizens Day, Free Legal Consultation. PESO Job Fair, Youth Day, LGU Night, Bugal sang Maayon, LGBT Day, LAMA Day, Sikad Turismo, Medical (Operation Tuli), Airsoft Competition, Battle of the Sounds, Pageant Night, Playground Demonstration, SK and Barangay Night, Vesper Mass, Procession, Gab-i sang Maragtas, First Mass, High Mass, Grand Parade, among others.
