Lito Adiwang is finally back in the ONE Fighting Championship ring and is set to square off against Australian opponent Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 19 on February 17, 2024, to be held at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand.
After clinching back-to-back wins against Adrian Mattheis and co-Filipino Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) Jeremy Miado in just three months last year, Adiwang is seeking to maintain his momentum to get another crack of the ONE strawweight championship belt.
Adiwang is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Miado last November 4, 2023, and completed his revenge tour after losing their first encounter.
The hard-hitting MMA fighter showed off his precise striking skills and nabbed the ring control advantage, pounding Miado with his quick jabs and his heavy kicks.
One thing that stood out the most was Adiwang’s high usage rate of his leg kicks which made a huge difference during the last two rounds.
When Miado moved forward to apply pressure with his attacks, Adiwang was wise to throw tons of leg kicks to disrupt his rhythm.
Against Williams who is a high-pressure fighter, Adiwang is expected to also unleash his improving leg kicks.
Williams is hungry for a win after losing his last three bouts against Miado, Jon Di Bella, and Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Despite the losing streak, Williams is still one of the uprising stars in ONE FC and is currently holding a professional MMA record of six wins and two losses.
If Adiwang gets the job done against Williams, there is a huge possibility that he will enter the strawweight champion conversation again.
Before suffering a major knee injury that kept him out of ONE FC for almost a year, Adiwang is already included in the top five strawweight fighters and is poised to enter the title eliminator fight series.
However, after injuring his knee, Adiwang had to go back to square one again and re-align his focus.
