Andy Gemao continues to make waves in the international hoops scene after receiving an invitation to participate in the 2024 NBA Basketball Without Borders Global Camp.
After playing for the Veritas Academy National Prep in California, the former Colegio de San Juan de Letran high school star is ready to absorb more basketball knowledge in the NBA BWB.
The event will take place from February 16 to 18 2024 and will be held at the Mojo Up Sports Complex in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gemao will have the chance to learn from Detlef Schrempf, one of the best three-point shooters during the 1990s who will be joining the camp in Indiana.
Also sharing his knowledge to the selected future talents in the sport is former Chicago Bulls superstar center, Joakim Noah.
Gemao will be engaging in several in-depth basketball talks in the camp and will also be participating in several on-court activities such as drills and situational player application.
On the last day of the NBA BWB, the committee will be choosing several participants who will be receiving the Kim Bohuny Camp MVP, Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award, Three-Point Champion, Defensive MVP, and Playoff MVP.
Gemao became the third Filipino to receive an invite from the NBA BWB. The first was Gilas Pilipinas upcoming star AJ Edu way back in 2018 and NBA aspirant Kai Sotto four years ago.
Currently, Gemao is still in the Philippines after playing in several exhibition games. He was also in attendance during the opening game day of the NCAA juniors’ tournament.
Gemao was a beast during the last season of the high school NCAA hoops after steering Letran to a championship title, taking down the stacked La Salle Green Hills team coached by Renren Ritualo.
During that back-and-forth series, Gemao averaged an impressive 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, outdueling the superstar duo of Seven Gagate and Luis Pablo, La Salle’s anchor that brought them to the finals.
