Another super fight will be lined up for the feisty fight fans in the sport of boxing.
After the announcement of the Dmitry Bivol-Artur Beterbiev light heavyweight unification title bout several days ago, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia joined the stacked list as the two superstars will be squaring off on April 20, 2024.
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger and boxing scene already confirmed the development where Haney will be defending his World Boxing Council (WBC) junior welterweight belt against Garcia.
As of this writing, both fighters already agreed to the initial terms of the contract but further details including the final venue of the bout are yet to be announced.
Haney, the former king of the lightweight division, is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis last December 9, 2023.
Despite failing to knockout Prograis, Haney still displayed his slick and technical boxing technique which includes his well-calculated aggression and efficient jabs.
Haney is still undefeated and is holding an impressive professional boxing record of 31 wins, 15 knockouts, without a single loss.
His only controversial win was against Vasiliy Lomachenko where he was granted a unanimous decision win last May 20, 2023.
Despite claiming the victory, several boxing analysts and fans believed that Lomachenko got robbed after the former undisputed lightweight champion hit Haney with hundreds of jabs and snappy right hooks.
On the other hand, Garcia is looking to pick up where he left off against Oscar Duarte Jurado where he won via a dominant knockout.
Recovering from his first professional loss at the hands of Gervonta Davis, Garcia was laser-sharp against Jurado and showed the world he still possesses his signature knockout power.
Can Garcia penetrate through Haney’s tough defensive stance or will he adjust his strategy and counter-punch his way until the end?
Who’d you got fight fans? Haney or Garcia?
