The Golden State Warriors made sure they’ll end a road game with a much-needed victory as they demolished the Miami Heat, 113-92, in the ongoing NBA regular season on March 27, 2024.
Golden State received a stellar performance from their star shooting guard Klay Thompson who dropped a game-high 28 points built from an efficient 11/20 shooting from the field.
Thompson started the matchup with a couple of perimeter jump shots before draining six total three-pointers to break Golden State’s two-game losing streak.
Stephen Curry and Draymond Green immediately fed Thompson after noticing that their streaky shooter was in the zone in the first half.
From finding him in their pin-down left elbow action to swinging the ball in the left side off an elevator play, Thompson was repaying the trust his teammates gave him to record his highest-scoring performance in 18 games.
However, it wasn’t an easy task for the Steve Kerr-mentored squad as they faced a one-point deficit heading into the second half.
With Thompson already heating up backstopped by the timely baskets of Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins, the Warriors were able to establish a double-digit lead after the third frame.
It was then all Golden State in the final quarter as they still outscored the Heat, 28-17, and ballooned their lead to as much as 23 points.
Golden State’s impressive defensive performance was also a key to their huge win, locking down Miami’s perimeter with their tight defensive coverage in the wings and the baseline.
Kuminga was the second-highest scorer for the Warriors as the athletic swingman produced 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a block.
Meanwhile, Wiggins contributed 17 points derived from 7/12 shooting from the field alongside seven rebounds, two blocks, and a dime.
