BACOLOD CITY – In an impressive family tradition, a 23-year-old summa cum laude graduate from Riverside College-Bacolod earned third place in the March 2024 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination, a feat his father accomplished 39 years prior.
Ralph Jason Tulmo of Bacolod City achieved a 92.70 percent score on the exam. Coming from a family of medical professionals, Tulmo shared in a radio interview his aspiration to become a doctor, though he initially hadn’t considered Medical Technology as a pathway.
“It was my father who told me that Medical Technology is one of the best pre-medical courses,” Tulmo revealed. Expressing gratitude for his success and top-ten finish, he urged fellow board examinees to persevere, work diligently, and maintain their faith.
Riverside College publicly commended their alumnus via Facebook, stating, “Your outstanding performance not only brings pride to our institution but also sets a remarkable standard of excellence in the field of Medical Technology.” The college further celebrated Tulmo’s “dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to excellence” as key to his achievement.
The Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) reported that 7,309 of the 9,068 candidates passed the exam, resulting in an 80.60 percent national passing rate. The exams were held across various locations in the Philippines on March 21 and 22.
