Law enforcement officers in Miag-ao, Iloilo, have apprehended a man listed as a national most-wanted person.
Alias Jomar, a 32-year-old construction worker, was taken into custody in Barangay Baybay Norte on the night of April 9.
The operation was spearheaded by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Intelligence Group, with support from Regional Intelligence Units 6 and 8, Oton Municipal Police Station, Miag-ao MPS, the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Palanan Sub-Station of the Makati City Police Station.
Jomar was detained under an arrest warrant for three counts of rape, with Criminal Case Numbers R-BAR-2022-008-CR to R-BAR-2022-010-CR, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branches 13 and 16 in Carigara, Leyte.
His capture was further incentivized by a P155,000 reward, as stated in DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-185.
Currently in the custody of Oton MPS, Jomar awaits legal proceedings for his alleged crimes.
Brigadier Jack Wanky, the police chief of Western Visayas, pointed to the arrest as evidence that fugitives can never truly evade the law.
He said that the proactive efforts of the PRO-6 units would ensure that other wanted individuals would also be brought to justice.
