The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo has successfully transferred vital Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data to the local government units (LGUs) of Santa Barbara and Pavia, marking significant progress in local development efforts.
The handovers, which occurred on April 12, 2024, provide these municipalities with essential data for strategic planning and policy-making.
In Santa Barbara, the turnover was conducted in the Mayor’s Conference Room with Mayor Dennis S. Superficial receiving the data from Marlene Y. Alviar, Chief of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), alongside Ma. Goretti M. Novilla, Officer-in-Charge of PSA Iloilo.
SOCD Chief Alviar expressed gratitude for the LGU’s support in implementing the CBMS and noted the potential for Santa Barbara to gain recognition for its data-driven governance.
The CBMS data for Santa Barbara covered 61,778 individuals from 60 barangays, with 16,027 households participating. Mayor Superficial acknowledged the significance of the statistics for informed decision-making and the overall progress of the municipality.
In a parallel event, Pavia’s LGU, led by Mayor Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta, also received its CBMS data at the Executive Hall.
SOCD Chief Alviar lauded the local government’s efforts and commitment to improving public service through informed decisions. The CBMS operation in Pavia encompassed 18 barangays, with data gathered from 17,492 households totaling 68,073 individuals.
Gorriceta thanked the PSA for its leadership and guidance during the CBMS implementation and praised the enumerators for their diligence in collecting reliable data. He emphasized that this successful data collection is crucial for tackling municipal concerns and shaping future development plans.
Both LGUs now have access to comprehensive statistics on electricity access, internet connectivity, water supply, sanitation, public safety, food security, and disaster preparedness, empowering them to enhance the quality of life for their constituents.
