Finally, after several tries, Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Yulo is now an individual all-around champion.

After finishing the last two editions of the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships with back-to-back silver medals in 2022 and 2023, Yulo finally reaped the fruits of his labor after dominating the competition in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on May 16, 2024.

Yulo tallied a total of 84.931 points in the six apparatuses. His championship average was based on his performances in the floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.

Placing behind Yulo in the overall ranking was Milad Karimi of Kazakhstan who grabbed the second place after scoring 84.632 points.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s representative Abdulla Azimov did enough to nab the third place, scoring 82.431 points for the bronze finish.

It was an elusive campaign for Yulo in bagging the individual all-around title. Last 2022 in Doha, Qatar, he had the chance to claim the trophy but fell short in the last two apparatuses.

Seeking for redemption in the next edition held in Singapore, Yulo was once again in his groove when the Asian Championships kicked off but for the second straight year, a sub-par finish hindered his quest for his first individual all-around gold.

This year, Yulo gave his all and executed a consistent performance in all six apparatuses, maintaining the same energy while also limiting his errors to avoid any stumbles in his runs.
