Michael Chandler recently shut down rumors that his fight with Conor McGregor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will no longer take place scheduled on June 29, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Everyone was in panic mode after their press conference that was scheduled on June 3, 2024, was surprisingly canceled at the last minute.
After the cancellation of the Chandler-McGregor press conference, UFC analysts quickly concluded that the showdown would no longer headline the main event of UFC 303.
However, on June 11, 2024, Chandler announced that the fight would still happen after he explained the situation in The Pivot podcast.
“The fight’s happening. Where we are right now, there’s a lot of speculation, but the fight is on. 29 June, it’s happening,” said Chandler.
The UFC also showed some light that the fight is still a go after they re-uploaded the past highlighted fights of both Chandler and McGregor on their official YouTube account.
Aside from their past fight videos, the UFC social media team also released the official video teaser of the Chandler-McGregor showdown.
McGregor has been out in the UFC since July 10, 2021, after suffering a devastating leg injury in his rematch against Dustin Poirier.
Before exiting the MMA organization, McGregor had been in a slump and ended his last UFC ride with back-to-back losses at the hands of Poirier.
On the other hand, Chandler, a known tough bruiser and a calculated aggressor inside the octagon, is also seeking to re-enter the winning column after losing to Poirier last November 2022.
