An elderly man died of possible electrocution on the afternoon of June 11 in Tubungan, Iloilo.

The body of 70-year-old Mariano Mandate Morbo was found a few meters from his home in Barangay Bikil, Tubungan.

His wife, Ofelia, reportedly discovered the victim’s body slumped on the ground while holding an electrical wire.

Ofelia stated that her husband had gone to their old house, which is adjacent to their new home, prior to the incident.

She also saw him cutting branches of bamboo plants. It is surmised that he might have touched the wire connected from their old house to their new shelter.

Police reports indicated that the victim was rushed to Tubungan Rural Health Unit but was declared dead on arrival.

Morbo’s family has refused an autopsy, claiming the incident was purely an accident.
