Worker Killed, Cop Injured in Separate Motorcycle Crashes

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 23-year-old construction worker died after his motorcycle crashed into a stockpile Sunday evening, June 16, at Sitio Ayuyan in Barangay Sto. Angel, Dumalag, Capiz.

An investigation by the Dumalag Municipal Police Station indicated that the man, known as “Dan,” was on his way from Barangay Sto. Niño to Barangay Poblacion in Dumalag around 10:45 p.m. when he lost control and crashed into the stockpile.

Due to the impact, he sustained fatal injuries to his head and other parts of his body. The Dumalag Response Team brought him to Sen. Gerardo Roxas District Hospital in Dao town, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

The police have taken custody of the motorcycle while the investigation is ongoing.

In another incident, a police officer and two others were injured in a head-on collision involving their motorcycles Monday evening, June 17, in Barangay Maindang, Cuartero, Capiz.

“Toto,” a member of the Philippine National Police and driver of a Suzuki Smash, collided with a Honda CB 125 motorcycle driven by “Itik” of Barangay Carataya, Cuartero, who had a back rider identified as “Bekbek,” 52, of Barangay Ilas Sur, Dao, Capiz.

An investigation by the Cuartero Municipal Police Station indicated that the two motorcycles collided while running in opposite directions around 11:15 p.m.

The three victims sustained injuries and were immediately rescued by the Cuartero Emergency Response Team.

They were taken to Sen. Gerardo Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao town, while the other victims were brought to Mambusao District Hospital for treatment. All three are reported to be in stable condition.

The involved motorcycles have been placed under the custody of the Cuartero PNP station for proper disposition.
