BACOLOD CITY – A one-year-old boy died after he fell into a water well in Barangay Cabadiangan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, last Friday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Grande, city police chief, said the parents told the victim’s older brother to look for his younger brother as they prepared for breakfast that day.
However, the older brother did not heed his parents’ order.
Grande said the family proceeded with their breakfast without the victim, assuming he was at a neighbor’s house.
The parents then searched for him and found him unconscious in the well about an hour later.
Grande said the well was situated six meters from their house and had no cover. It measures five to six feet in depth, he added.
The victim was taken to a hospital but was declared dead, according to Grande.
Grande noted that the well was almost full of water due to recent rain.
The victim was the fourth child in the family, he added.
