The Petro Gazz Angels will be reuniting with the first import that gave them their first-ever Premier Volleyball League (PVL) championship title.
For the upcoming PVL Reinforced Conference, Petro Gazz will once again have Cuban star Wilma Salas as their official import announced on July 10, 2024.
Salas immediately made an impact upon arriving with Petro Gazz last 2019 and steered them to the Reinforced Conference championship trophy.
As a result of her consistent campaign in the Philippines, Salas was hailed as the 2019 Reinforced Conference Best Import awardee.
Together with the late Janisa Johnson, Salas spearheaded Petro Gazz’s comeback series win over the talented Creamline Cool Smashers, 2-1.
Creamline drew first blood in Game 1 after pulling off a four-set win but Petro Gazz scored a reverse sweep after winning the last two games.
Salas was terrific during that championship stint and proved that she was a two-way star when she led Petro Gazz on the defensive end and the offensive department.
However, it will be a different scenario as Salas played in a PVL conference where there were only a total of six participating franchises.
This 2024, the PVL expanded to 12 teams and welcomed the addition of six new franchises in the past two years.
Standing Petro Gazz’s way are the top teams in the league, Chery Tiggo, Choco Mucho, PLDT, Cignal, and the defending All-Filipino Conference champion, Creamline.
