BACOLOD CITY – A portion of a road at Sitio Banga, Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, collapsed following heavy rainfall brought about by a low-pressure area (LPA) last Wednesday.

Mayor Benjie Miranda, who was in Manila, posted photos of the collapsed road on Facebook yesterday, stating that a landslide had occurred in the area.

He mentioned that the collapsed road, which is an access road to Barangay Carol-an, limited the movement of motorists, including motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) and other vehicles.

Mayor Miranda was unsure if the road collapsed late Wednesday night or early Thursday.

However, road maintenance was immediately conducted to make the road passable for motorists, according to Miranda.

Miranda noted that an assessment was conducted to determine the extent of the damage and the necessary repairs for the safety of motorists and residents in the area.

He advised the public to be cautious, especially during this rainy season.
