BACOLOD CITY – Jealousy drove a 32-year-old man to kill his live-in partner inside their house in Purok Rizal, Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, last Friday.

Police identified the victim as Rose Ann Gahito, 29, a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who returned to the province on July 6 after working in Saudi Arabia for two years.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Grande, city police chief, said the victim went to their house around 5 p.m. to get her belongings when she was allegedly stabbed by the suspect with a jungle knife.

A concerned citizen heard the victim shouting for help and saw her being stabbed by the suspect.

The victim succumbed to stab wounds in the stomach, neck, and chest. The suspect was arrested at the scene, according to Grande.

Hours before the incident, the couple had met in the barangay to discuss the custody of their three children. However, Grande was unsure if they had argued before the killing.

Grande said the suspect alleged that the victim was having an affair with a man in the province after seeing them together in photos on Facebook.

Murder charges were filed against the suspect last Saturday, the police chief said.
