SAN JOSE, Antique – The Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) of Guimaras’ five municipalities—Jordan, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag—were honored as some of the most outstanding LCROs in Western Visayas by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The recognition was awarded during the 3rd Regional Midyear Convention on Civil Registration of Local Civil Registrars and staff, held on July 18, 2024, at the Eagle’s Hotel here.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare noted that the LCROs were ranked based on the volume of civil registry documents processed and submitted to the PSA-Civil Registration Services in 2022.
Additionally, their activities were evaluated on the basis of submitted Civil Registry Documents and Narrative Reports to the PSA-Provincial Offices and the Civil Registration Service.
“For the extra small category, LCRO Sibunag bagged the first place as the most outstanding Local Civil Registry Office in Western Visayas for 2022, while San Lorenzo was placed fifth,” said Losare.
Buenavista and Nueva Valencia, which fall under the medium category, secured the 8th and 9th places, respectively, and Jordan was ranked 6th in the extra-large category.
“We commend our partner LCROs for the job well done, and for providing timely and quality services to their clients aligned with the attainment of their mandate,” Losare added.
The awards are guided by the principles of integrity, accountability, accuracy, and reliability. The main objectives are to recognize the exemplary performance of the LCROs, encourage efficiency and productivity, and foster innovation in implementing programs relevant to Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS).
Losare emphasized the convention’s theme, “CRVS: Paving the way to seamless services in Western Visayas,” which addresses various issues critical to civil registration systems and underscores the importance of accurate and timely data collection.
CRVS is essential for legal identity and access to public services, playing a pivotal role in governance and development.
“The convention served as a platform for stakeholders to share best practices, strategies, and innovations, exchanging ideas on new memoranda and civil registry laws, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of CRVS systems in Western Visayas,” Losare stated.
