The Iloilo Business Expo 2024 (IBEX) opened today at the Iloilo Convention Center, featuring a diverse array of products from over 100 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
This year’s theme, “Business, brew, bite,” captures the essence of the event which aims to promote local craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit under one roof.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo booth highlighted the creativity of nineteen assisted MSMEs, displaying products ranging from virgin coconut oil and enriched soaps to bamboo crafts, hablon textiles, cacao, and coffee products.
These offerings underscore the region’s dedication to sustainable and innovative development.
Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PCCI) Iloilo Chapter Inc., the event organizer, initiated IBEX in 2022 to aid economic recovery post-pandemic.
This year’s expo, recognized as the largest business exhibition in Western Visayas, continues to serve as a vital platform for MSMEs to showcase their goods and expand their market reach.
During the opening ceremony, DTI6 Regional Director Rachel N. Nufable praised the resilience and innovation of local businesses.
“Congratulations to the MSMEs for pursuing continuous product improvement and market promotion – showcasing their ingenuity and the craftsmanship of the Ilonggos and the region,” Nufable said.
Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo, DTI Iloilo Provincial Director, also expressed her support, emphasizing the importance of community and perseverance.
“May we always treasure this opportunity as this exemplifies how we want to work for our community and our MSMEs in these challenging times,” she remarked.
The IBEX will run until July 28, 2024, featuring concurrent events such as the Visayas Area Business Conference and the Iloilo Coffee Festival, offering participants and visitors a rich tapestry of activities and networking opportunities.
