Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo will have the chance to deliver three podium finishes for the Philippines after advancing to the grand final stage of three events during the men’s qualification round of the Artistic Gymnastics on July 27, 2024 at the Paris Olympics.
The 24-year-old superstar qualified in the championship round of his two pet events, the floor exercise and the vault categories, and the individual all-around.
During the floor exercise event, Yulo managed to bag the second overall place, scoring a total of 14.766 points after his splendid routine.
Yulo was only 0.2 points behind the first-place finisher, Jake Jarman of Great Britain, who capped off the qualification round with a score of 14.966 points.
Meanwhile, in the vault event, Yulo was able to beat the final competing list for the medal rounds when he registered 14.683 points.
Despite placing sixth overall, four places down his floor exercise finish, Yulo still did enough to earn the next ticket on August 4, 2024.
Topping the preliminary phase of the vault event was Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi followed by Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth.
With his consistent showing throughout the qualification round, Yulo finished in ninth place in the all-around, garnering a total of 83.631 points.
Yulo’s resumption for his Paris Olympic gold medal will resume on July 31, 2024, in the individual all-around grand final stage.
On the other hand, the floor exercise finals will begin on August 3, 2024, while the vaults event finals was scheduled on August 4, 2024.
