The Cignal HD Spikers kept their untainted record in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference after blanking the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, on August 1, 2024, at the Philsports Arena.
Fresh off an impressive victory over the rolling Capital1 Solar Spikers, the HD Spikers rebranded attack was still on full display against the reigning import-laced conference champions.
Leading the way for Cignal was again their foreign reinforcement MJ Perez who dropped the hammer on Petro Gazz, scoring a team-high 20 points derived from 16 successful attacks.
For the fourth straight game, Perez was in the middle of everything for the HD Spikers, contributing in all departments of the game while acting as their closer when her squad needed to pile up the points.
Aside from her 20-point explosion, Perez also tallied three big blocks, two of those in the last two sets while also garnering seven excellent receptions and seven excellent digs.
Backstopping Perez was Jackie Acuna who wrapped up her all-around performance with eight markers, three blocks, and a service ace.
Meanwhile, veteran outside hitter Ces Molina had a little throwback performance for the HD Spikers and ended up with seven points and three excellent receptions.
“Sobrang thankful ako kay Lord sa guidance na binigay nila sa amin and sa strength. And then syempre sobrang proud sa team namin, especially our import sobrang all out talaga siya kanina,” said Cignal head coach Shaq delos Santos.
On the other hand, defending champion Petro Gazz dropped to a disappointing 1-3 win-loss record in the Reinforced Conference.
With another defeat, the Angels must step up in their remaining games to keep their back-to-back import-laced conference title hopes alive.
