In a transformative effort to support education in Antique, the Uswag Ilonggo Partylist has unveiled its One-Barangay-One-Scholar Program on its second year, granting Php 10,000 per student to 1,114 students across the province. This initiative aims to reduce financial barriers and foster educational success among Antique’s youth.
The program was launched at a ceremony in Sibalom Gym, where Congressman Jojo Ang of Uswag Ilonggo Partylist emphasized the critical role of education in societal progress. “By investing in our students, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future for Antique. This financial aid will ensure that financial constraints do not obstruct our youth’s educational aspirations,” Cong. Ang remarked.
Beneficiaries of the program are students from 18 municipalities within Antique, enrolled in diverse educational institutions. The funds provided will cover essential expenses such as tuition, school supplies, and other learning materials.
The initiative has been met with widespread gratitude from both students and parents. Dominic Pojas, a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in English student from Barbaza, expressed his appreciation: “I would like to thank Cong. Jojo Ang of Uswag Ilonggo Partylist. This educational assistance is a tremendous help for our studies. Uswag Ilonggo, Uswag Kabataang Antiqueño.”
Local leaders have also praised the program, recognizing its potential to enhance educational opportunities and reduce financial pressure on families. “Students from Antique were thankful this 1st day of August as they received Php 10,000 cash assistance from Uswag Ilonggo Partylist through the Educational Assistance Program, Para sa Kauswagan sang Kabataan,” noted Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña of Sibalom.
This educational assistance program is part of Uswag Ilonggo Partylist’s broader strategy to improve educational access and quality in the region.
