Top teams look to extend dominance in PVL crossover showdowns

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference heats up as the crossover preliminaries begin today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The top three teams from Pool B—Akari, Cignal, and Capital1—are set to face the bottom three from Pool A in critical matches that could define their path to the quarterfinals.

Akari, unbeaten with a 5-0 record, is the team to watch as they take on the winless Galeries Tower (0-5) at 1 p.m.

The Chargers have displayed remarkable form, with star player Oly Okaro leading the charge alongside local standouts Grethcel Soltones, Joy Soyud, and Ivy Lacsina.

“Our team has been working hard, and we’re focused on maintaining our momentum heading into the quarterfinals,” said Okaro.

Cignal, with a 4-1 record, will face Farm Fresh (2-3) at 3 p.m.

The HD Spikers are looking to bounce back after a recent defeat to Akari, with MJ Perez expected to lead the team.

Perez, supported by key players such as Ces Molina and Gel Cayuna, emphasized the importance of regrouping.

“We need to learn from our mistakes and come out stronger in this match,” she said.

The final match of the day will see Capital1 (3-2) clash with Nxled (1-4) at 5 p.m.

Capital1, led by high-scoring import Marina Tushova, aims to continue their strong form, with Norielle Ipac and Leila Cruz providing solid support.

“We’ve had a good run so far, and we’re determined to keep it going,” Tushova noted.

As the crossover round continues, attention will shift to Tuesday’s matches, where Pool A leaders Chery Tiggo, Creamline, and PLDT—all with 4-1 records—will battle lower-seeded teams from Pool B.

The top four teams from each pool will advance to the knockout quarterfinals, making every game crucial.

With the stakes high, underdogs like Galeries Tower, Farm Fresh, and Nxled are motivated to upset the balance. “We may be down, but we’re not out,” said Farm Fresh’s import Yeny Murillo. “We’re ready to give it our all.”

The PVL mid-season conference, organized by Sports Vision, promises more intense volleyball action as the race to the quarterfinals narrows.
