BACOLOD CITY – A woman died, and six others, including her father and relatives, were injured after a sedan collided with a truck in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, last Saturday.

Police identified the fatality as Jenelyn Amante, 37, of Barangay Tinampa-an.

The injured included her 63-year-old father and her nieces and nephews, aged 7, 10, 12, and 16.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz City police chief, said the sedan was on its way to Bacolod when it reportedly crossed into the opposite lane and struck the left side of a truck driven by a 39-year-old man, a resident of Victorias City.

Batusbatusan mentioned that Amante had driven the vehicle after reportedly finishing a night shift at a hospital.

Amante was declared dead at the hospital, while the wounded victims sustained minor injuries, according to the police chief.

Batusbatusan added that the victims’ family and the truck owner had already met for an initial settlement, with the latter offering to extend assistance.
