Philippines, Indonesia to boost creative economy ties

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Indonesia, the two nations are set to enhance their economic collaboration through the “Philippines-Indonesia Creative Economy Roundtable.”

The event, scheduled for August 28, 2024, at the Sheraton in Newport City, Manila, aims to foster stronger ties by promoting creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The roundtable discussion is a key initiative under the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Malikhaing Pinoy Program, specifically managed by the Competitiveness and Innovation Group (CIG).

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Jakarta (PTIC-Jakarta), DTI’s trade promotion arm in Indonesia, will facilitate the event.

The forum is a significant step towards creating mutually beneficial partnerships that drive economic growth in our region.

By collaborating in the creative economy, both countries can leverage their rich cultural heritage while embracing modern innovations to enhance cross-border trade and market access.

The event will feature exhibitions showcasing Filipino-made products and panel discussions on critical topics such as policy support systems, creative industries research, and government-academia-industry collaboration between the Philippines and Indonesia.

These discussions aim to build a stronger framework for supporting the creative industries in both nations.

Prominent figures from both countries, including government officials, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and artists, are expected to attend.

The roundtable will serve as a platform for networking and partnership-building among key players in the creative industries, further promoting cross-border trade and access to markets.

Indonesia and the Philippines share deep cultural ties, with each country boasting its own unique artistic expressions.

The event will underscore the synergy between traditional and modern influences in both nations, highlighting the dynamic evolution of their creative sectors.
