Welcome to elite company, Angel Reese!

Despite playing in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a rookie, Chicago Sky lottery pick Angel Reese continues to make a name for herself after breaking the record for the most rebounds in a single season of league history.

Reese surpassed the legendary Sylvia Fowles, who grabbed 404 total rebounds during the 2018 season of the WNBA.

In just the first half of Chicago’s game against the Minnesota Lynx on September 2, 2024, Reese already reached 405 boards when she grabbed her sixth rebound.

Reese continued to be active on the boards and wrapped up the game with 19 rebounds to go alongside 17 points, three assists, and two steals.

Despite a close loss on the road in Minnesota, Reese’s phenomenal stat line put her on the list of the league’s elite names in the rebounding department.

With eight games still left before the regular season closes, the rookie from Louisiana State University (LSU) already reached the 418-rebound mark and can extend her record until September 20, 2024, their last game of the season.

Aside from her phenomenal record, Reese also became the first WNBA rookie to tally three straight 20-rebound games.

The dominant center already has 23 double-double performances and is averaging 16.1 rebounds in the last seven outings.

However, Chicago is in deep trouble as they have yet to win a game in their last six outings. They are currently sitting at the no. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference and must reach above .500 if they want to lock up a spot for the playoffs.
