ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ Police Colonel Albert Dacanay Tapulao has assumed his new role as the provincial director of the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), following a change of command ceremony held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Camp Apil, Lanot, Roxas City.

Tapulao succeeds Police Colonel Jerome Afuyog Jr., who served as police provincial director for nearly two years.

Afuyog expressed gratitude to local government units for their support during his tenure, during which he was able to significantly reduce crime rates and received several awards for his accomplishments.

One of Afuyog’s key contributions was the construction of the “Ob-obfu Building,” named after a term from the Bontoc Mountain Province that means “cooperation.”

The building will serve as a conference room for the CPPO.

Capiz Governor Fredenil Castro praised Afuyog for his excellent performance and challenged Tapulao to either match or exceed his predecessor’s accomplishments.

Before his appointment, Tapulao served as chief of the finance department at the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

Both he and Afuyog are graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy Kabalikat Class of 1998.
