UP High School in Iloilo’s Grade 10 student, Ayanna P. Fuerte, brought home multiple medals from the recently concluded MLA Dance Prix 2024, held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC, Taguig, on August 24-25, 2024.

Fuerte earned a gold award in contemporary dance and the Best Performer Award (highest score for all contemporary dances) for her solo performance of “Abyss.”

She also won a silver award for the trio performance of “Habangbuhay,” alongside two other artists from the PCD School of Performing Arts.

Additionally, she claimed two gold awards in classical ballet for her solo performance of “Coppelia Swanhilda Act I” and for “OPM Classics,” performed with 13 senior girls.

Their performance earned the highest score for all classical ballet ensembles, winning the Best Performer Award in the category.

Fuerte was named Top 2 Overall based on the average scores of her contemporary and solo performances in the competition.

Her choreographers were Ms. Pauline Cordero-Dingcong and Ms. Pearl Cordero.

Earlier in the year, on June 7-9, 2024, Fuerte clinched two silver awards in the contemporary dance and classical ballet categories at the International Ballet Grand Prix 2024 held in Metro Manila.

She received two scholarships from The Place, School of Performing Arts in London, UK, and the IBGP 2025 Scholarship.

In July, she represented the Philippines in the IBGP 2024 Grand Finals at the National University of Singapore, where she secured two bronze medals.

Fuerte was also the sole recipient of the La Salle College of the Arts Singapore scholarship. (IPO)
