ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ – A man who provided information leading to the arrest of a rape suspect recently received a PHP 50,000 cash reward.

Sigma Mayor Dante Rizal Eslabon, along with members of the Sangguniang Bayan, handed over the reward at his office.

The awarding ceremony was witnessed by employees of the Sigma local government unit (LGU) and officers from the Sigma Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by Police Captain Mark Anthony Garcia.

Eslabon said a municipal ordinance, passed last year, aims to address the high incidence of rape cases in the town.

This is the second time the LGU has rewarded an informant for providing information leading to the capture of a wanted rape suspect.

According to records from the Sigma PNP station, nine of the town’s most wanted individuals are facing rape charges in court.

That number has been reduced to seven following the recent arrests of two suspects.

Eslabon expressed deep concern for the rape victims and their families, prompting him to seek the municipal council’s support in solving the problem by apprehending the suspects.

Pictures and names of wanted rape suspects have been posted in the public plaza as part of the ordinance passed to aid in their capture.
