The number of registered voters in Iloilo City and province for the May 12, 2025, midterm elections has surpassed 1.6 million, according to data from the Iloilo Provincial Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as of July 15, 2024.

The 5th District of Iloilo recorded the highest number of active voters, with 313,868 registered. It was followed by the 3rd District with 271,458 voters, the 4th District with 261,496, the 1st District with 229,437, and the 2nd District with 219,534.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City registered 319,294 voters.

“We expect the number to increase by the time the Election Registration Board meeting concludes on October 14,” said Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Reinier Layson.

COMELEC-Iloilo also reported that 32,226 voters have been deactivated during this election period.

Nationally, 5.37 million voters have been deactivated, according to COMELEC Commissioner George Erwin Garcia. Reasons for deactivation include failure to vote in two consecutive regular elections, loss of Filipino citizenship, invalid documents, or deactivation by court order.

The voter registration period began on February 12 and concluded on September 30.

Currently, candidates are filing their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) and nominations, with the deadline set for October 8.

The election period, including a gun ban and other restrictions, will run from January 12 to June 11, 2025.

National candidates will campaign from February 11 to May 10, while local candidates are scheduled to campaign from March 28 to May 10.

Overseas voting will take place from April 13 to May 12, with local absentee voting from April 28 to 30.

A liquor ban will be enforced on May 11, the day before Election Day on May 12.

All candidates are required to submit their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) by June 11.
