CHMSU Launches Extension Initiatives in Talisay, La Carlota

BACOLOD CITY – Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) recently launched extension initiatives in Talisay City and La Carlota City through its colleges and the Extension and Community Services (ECS) office.

The College of Education launched the “3Cs: The Child Care Connect” program on Sept. 27 at the CHMSU Talisay gym.

The program, organized by the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education faculty and students, aims to enhance the skills of 47 Child Development Workers from Talisay City to create supportive environments for children’s growth.

During the launch, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Intellectual Property Andrew Eusebio Tan, College Dean Ophelia Duayan, Talisay City Social Welfare and Development Officer Dionela Flores-Madona, and Social Worker II Leonard Aguiman signed a memorandum of agreement to implement the program in the area.

Rolando Jr. Peralta, ECS coordinator for the College of Education, outlined the upcoming training sessions for the program.

Meanwhile, the College of Arts and Sciences launched the PAGSAKDAG Program in La Carlota City on Sept. 25 at the Mayor’s Hall.

The program, titled “PAGSAKDAG: Sustainable Futures, Bridging Communities, Improving Lives,” is an expansion of CHMSU’s training and development services. It aims to provide practical and innovative training to underserved adults in the community.

The CHMSU contingent was welcomed by La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on and Councilor January Abad, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Women, Family Relations, and Children.

The PAGSAKDAG Program focuses on key areas such as financial literacy, income generation, overall well-being, general literacy, and skills for interpreting information.

The program is led by Yvonne Velasco and facilitated by CAS ECS Coordinator April Abrera, with Director for Extension and Community Services Roger Ray Manzano also in attendance.

The program consists of three independent projects, each led by experts in specific topics. Project DAGYAW is led by project leader Everlou Maquiling, Project #SML is headed by Jansen Tumabing, and Project ARBs is overseen by Soledad Estares.
