BACOLOD CITY – A senior citizen and a man were arrested in two buy-bust operations that resulted in the seizure of PHP986,000 worth of suspected shabu over the weekend.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated 90 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP612,000 from a 65-year-old woman in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago, on Saturday night.

The suspect, identified as alias “Lourdes” from the same village, was tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) due to the volume of drugs recovered.

Police Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., CDEU head, said it took more than a month to validate reports of the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

Benitez added that some of the suspect’s children and relatives had been previously arrested for drug-related offenses.

The suspect was identified as an alleged supplier of illegal drugs in Barangay Banago and other areas. She claimed the illegal drugs were delivered to her, Benitez said. She is currently detained at Police Station 3.

Early the next day, CDEU operatives also apprehended a 32-year-old man, alias “Nana,” from Barangay Mansilingan. He allegedly yielded 55 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP374,000 and was also tagged as an HVI.
