DTI VI Distributes 300 Seedlings for Consumer Rights, Sustainability

In celebration of Consumer Welfare Month, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VI distributed 300 fruit-bearing tree seedlings as part of its “Adopt a Plant: Assert Your Consumer Rights” campaign on October 15, 2024.

The initiative, held outside the DTI Regional Office, emphasized the link between consumer rights and environmental sustainability.

Rachel Nufable, DTI Region VI’s Regional Director, highlighted the connection, stating, “By empowering consumers to exercise their rights—such as the right to a healthy environment—we can also inspire them to take action in protecting our planet.”

Participants were given seedlings of jackfruit, mabolo, star apple, pomelo, and tamarind after signing commitment forms to nurture the plants.

The activity focused on the consumer’s “Right to a Healthy Environment” and aimed to strengthen awareness of environmental protection.

The Department of Agriculture Region VI provided the seedlings, symbolizing collaboration between government agencies.

DTI Region VI continues to promote consumer rights and environmental sustainability through initiatives that encourage personal responsibility.
