DTI Hosts Bootcamp to Equip Young Entrepreneurs in Western Visayas

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VI launched a three-day Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) Bootcamp in Iloilo City on October 16, 2024, aimed at preparing 30 young entrepreneurs from Western Visayas for business success.

The intensive training, held at the Goldberry Lite Hotel, is designed to enhance the participants’ business skills and foster innovation.

The YEP Bootcamp aligns with the government’s goal of addressing inequality and improving the quality of life for Filipinos by empowering young business owners.

“Our vision is to equip these young entrepreneurs with the essential tools and knowledge needed to scale their businesses effectively,” said DTI Region VI Director Rachel N. Nufable.

During the opening session, participants expressed excitement about learning new technologies, improving marketing strategies, and enhancing financial management.

They also looked forward to building networks for potential business partnerships.

The bootcamp’s curriculum covers crucial areas such as business identity development, design thinking, marketing strategies, and financial management.

Emphasizing digital transformation and sustainability, the training prepares participants for the challenges of the evolving business landscape.

In addition to theoretical learning, participants will gain hands-on experience through workshops, group discussions, and business pitch presentations.

Mentorship from industry experts will provide valuable insights, helping the young entrepreneurs apply what they learn to their businesses.

This event is part of DTI Region VI’s larger Youth Entrepreneurship Program, which trained 332 young individuals in 2023, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The current bootcamp follows the successful “Be Your Own Boss” training, held in August 2024, bringing the total number of YEP graduates to 361.

As the bootcamp continues through October 18, the young entrepreneurs are expected to drive innovation, create jobs, and contribute to the sustainable economic development of Western Visayas.
