BACOLOD CITY – The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) has announced on Friday, October 18, that power in three affected areas in the third district of the province has been fully restored.
“We have achieved 100 percent power restoration for E.B. Magalona, Victorias City, and Manapla, as of 10:59 a.m.,” the power firm said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
This development came after the 10 MegaVolt Amperes (MVA) power transformer borrowed from Negros Occidental Central Electric Cooperative (Noceco) has been successfully energized at 2:33 a.m., and a 2-megawatt (MW) temporary power supply from the Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) was approved.
The power firm has also requested Victorias Milling Company (VMC), a co-generating company embedded in the 15 MVA Victorias substation distribution line, to provide a 2.5 megawatt supply of electricity to some affected consumers.
Over 30,000 consumers in the towns of E.B. Magalona and Manapla, as well as Victorias City, were left without electricity on October 15 after the 12.5 MVA power transformer at Noneco’s Victorias substation failed.
On October 21, an eight-hour power interruption will affect some areas of E.B. Magalona town, to facilitate the installation of 12 primary poles, two units of 50 KVA transformers, and stringing of primary lines at Hacienda Tinihaban 1, Barangay San Jose.
This power interruption will affect electric services from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Sitios San Francisco, Dunca-an, Balaring, Takas Tinihaban, Crossing Railway, and Gary’s Place in Barangay San Jose, according to Noneco.
“We sincerely appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and prayers for the safety of our Warriors of Light during the restoration efforts in this challenging time,” Noneco said.
In August last year, a five-day blackout also affected these three local government units (LGUs) due to the tripping of the 15 MVA power transformer in Victorias City substation.
