BACOLOD CITY – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will deploy its newly acquired customized mobile command center during the highlights of the 45th MassKara Festival.

Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, CDRRMO head, said the city government purchased the mobile command center for PHP6.5 million.

The mobile command center is equipped with four computers, an interactive television, and seven closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

It arrived on Thursday and will first be used at the Paglaum Sports Complex for the MassKara Arena Competition on October 27, according to Pornan.

Pornan explained that the project was implemented to enhance the city’s ability to monitor situations on the ground.

“Basically, it will serve as the city’s eye,” she said, noting that the unit can monitor weather and events simultaneously.

The equipment was funded through CDRRMO’s budget allocation.

Pornan added that the mobile command center can also be used for emergency and disaster response operations.
