BACOLOD CITY – The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command – New People’s Army (NPA) Northern Negros Guerilla Front has owned up the killing of a farmer at Sitio Huwebesan, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last week.

In a statement dated October 17, Ka Cecil Estrella, rebel group’s spokesperson, said that 54-year-old Danny Brazona was tagged as a military asset.

The rebel group said that Brazona was given a chance to reform, but instead he became more active against the revolutionary movement.

The rebel group said that the incident occurred amidst the military’s focused military operation.

Brazon was shot dead in front of his live-in partner and their seven-year-old son on October 16, when they accompanied their son to school that morning.

Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Calatrava police chief, refused to comment on the allegation of the rebel group.

He said that they are continuously probing the incident, and will stick to the facts of the case.
