BACOLOD CITY – PHINMA Property Holdings Corporation (PHINMA Properties) announced the upcoming construction of a 150-room hotel and a university at its 21-hectare township, Saludad, starting next year.

The company committed to showcasing the authenticity of Bacolod and Negros through its PHP12-billion township development, which was launched on October 19 along the Bacolod-Silay Access Road in Barangay Bata.

Titled “Aton Ini: Experience the Best of Bacolod in One Integrated Township,” the launch highlighted the rich heritage, culture, and cuisine of Negros.

PHINMA Properties president and chief executive officer (CEO) Raphael Felix said the event signified the official start of Saludad, with the project now in full swing.

In a media interview, Felix confirmed that construction of Tryp Hotel, operated by PHINMA Hospitality—a franchise holder of the Microtel and Tryp by Wyndham brands in the Philippines—will begin in June 2025. The hotel is expected to be completed in about 18 months.

Architect Royal Pineda emphasized the importance of getting the project right to meet the expectations of both Bacolod residents and a global audience. “It was challenging, but we’re happy to have reached this point. We’re confident that it’s authentic and ready for realization,” he said.

“This is not just a local standard but an international one. We want this project to set a new benchmark for PHINMA developments,” Pineda added, noting that Saludad will offer a glimpse of the township’s future potential.

PHINMA Properties also announced the construction of Southwestern University’s first branch outside Cebu City, which will begin at Saludad in June next year.

Pineda shared that the design process focused heavily on understanding the essence of Bacolod and Negros.

“Bringing out the authenticity of Bacolod wasn’t easy. The challenge was to showcase the truest version of the place and its people,” he said.

He noted that the township will reflect Bacolod’s sophistication while remaining inclusive.

Paolo Reyes, vice president and chief for township development, stated that Phase 1 of Saludad’s southern section is already underway, with Phase 2—covering the northern portion—set to begin in 2026.

The event also marked the unveiling of Likha Estates, a residential community within Saludad offering modern living spaces, upscale amenities, and green areas designed for both elegance and convenience.

The development will include PHINMA Maayo, featuring mid-rise condominiums, a business district, and a town center with cafes, restaurants, and shops. The community will be inclusive, wellness-focused, and open to all.

Groundbreaking for the Saludad township took place last July. PHINMA Properties is partnering with JEPP Real Estate Co., composed of the Jacinto, Echaus, and Puentevella families, to bring the project to life.

Regina Jacinto-Barrientos, representing JEPP, expressed that Saludad is more than a township—it’s a labor of love and commitment to give back to Bacolod. “This project isn’t just about design; it’s about the community,” she said.
