The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the Philippines (NCAA) just postponed all of their scheduled games due to the arrival of Tropical Storm Kristine.
To ensure the safety of all collegiate and high school athletes, the two PHL sporting bodies decided to move the games scheduled on October 23, 2024, to a later date.
Both the UAAP and the NCAA are yet to confirm the new playing date for the canceled games. Sports that were affected by the storm are the basketball seniors’ division, high school, as well as volleyball.
Fans are already excited to witness the matchup between Adamson University and the Ateneo de Manila University, two squads in the UAAP that are in desperate need of a late push to qualify in the Final Four.
Also headlining the October 23 UAAP schedule is the highly-anticipated clash between the University of the East and the University of the Philippines.
In the NCAA, the fans of both the Lyceum of the Philippines University and the College of St. Benilde will have to wait, as they were supposed to kick off the scheduled doubleheader in the college hoops.
The rolling Emilio Aguinaldo College meanwhile can take more time off as their clash with the Jose Rizal University is also affected.
Aside from the collegiate level, the high school games were also scrapped, including the volleyball duel between University of Santo Tomas and Adamson, National University Nazareth School against UE, and De La Salle Zobel versus Ateneo.
Last but not the least, the UAAP high school boys’ hoops matches, featuring Far Eastern University-Diliman versus Ateneo and DLSU against Adamson, also got slashed out the official list.
Stay safe, athletes!
