GSIS Opens Emergency Loans for Typhoon Kristine Victims

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has announced financial assistance for members and pensioners affected by Typhoon Kristine through its Emergency Loan Program.

The program is currently open in Albay and Naga City and will be extended to other areas once they are officially declared under a state of calamity.

GSIS is monitoring other regions, including Bicol, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao, for possible state-of-calamity declarations. Once an area is declared, GSIS will immediately offer loans to qualified members and pensioners.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso urges members and pensioners to use the GSIS Touch mobile app to apply for loans, ensuring safer and faster transactions.

Veloso emphasized that GSIS Touch provides a secure, seamless, and efficient way to apply for loans, track premium remittances, loan and insurance payments, and access membership and pension records. The app allows users to manage their accounts conveniently through their mobile phones.

Members without an existing emergency loan can borrow up to PHP 20,000, while those with outstanding balances may apply for up to PHP 40,000. The loan has a 6% annual interest rate and is payable over three years.

To qualify, members must be actively employed, not on leave without pay, have no pending administrative or legal cases, have paid at least six months’ worth of premiums, and have a net take-home pay of at least PHP 5,000. Pensioners must retain at least 25% of their pension after loan amortization to be eligible.

For assistance with the GSIS Touch app, GSIS offers 24/7 customer support. Members can contact the GSIS Contact Center at 8847-4747 (Metro Manila), 1-800-8-847-4747 (Globe and TM subscribers), or 1-800-10-847-4747 (Smart, Sun, and TNT subscribers).
