Officials from Muntinlupa City visited Iloilo City to learn about the Hybrid Underground Distribution System (HUDS) project implemented by MORE Power along Calle Real.

The benchmarking activity, facilitated by MORE Power and the Iloilo City Planning and Development Office, aimed to share insights into Iloilo’s urban transformation initiatives.

During the visit, the delegation explored how the HUDS project modernizes Iloilo City’s infrastructure while preserving its historical and cultural heritage.

Engr. Romar U. Dagupan, Assistant City Engineer of Muntinlupa City, praised Iloilo’s innovative approach to urban beautification.

“It’s something that other cities aim to achieve as well. The nuisance and eyesore caused by overhead wires—especially electrical and telecom lines—have become a perennial problem. Addressing this will truly contribute to the overall beautification of the city. This is a commendable initiative that the City of Muntinlupa would also like to emulate,” Dagupan said.

He also noted Iloilo City’s balanced approach to progress, highlighting its emphasis on environmental protection and heritage preservation.

“We can see the significant progress here. Iloilo City is a dynamic city that embraces development while also upholding environmental protection and heritage preservation. Typically, with progress, environmental management and heritage preservation are often left behind. But here in Iloilo City, there’s a conscious effort to preserve both the environment and heritage, which is something worth emulating,” he added.

The HUDS project is part of Iloilo City’s broader initiative to create a modern, efficient, and visually appealing urban landscape while honoring its historical identity.

Muntinlupa officials expressed optimism about adopting similar strategies to enhance their city’s infrastructure and aesthetics.
