USLS set to inaugurate DOST-funded Aerogel lab

The University of St. La Salle (USLS) is inaugurating the Center for Aerogel Technology for Energy and Environment (CATEE), that will be established in the University with funding from the DOST Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), today November 21, 2024.

USLS and DOST boasts that CATEE will be the first research center in Negros Occidental dedicated to the development of advanced materials.

The inauguration will be attended by Dr. Enrico Paringit, Executive Director of DOST-PCIEERD, our University administrators led by University President Br. Joaquin Severino S. Martinez FSC, D.Min, and University Chancellor Minnie O. Chua, together with Lasallian partners.

The laboratory is envisioned to focus on the synthesis and development of functionalized aerogels for various applications including environmental remediation, resource recovery, and energy storage devices. It aims to significantly boost research and development activities in the region.
