DUMALAG, CAPIZ – Police have filed a murder charge against a man accused of brutally hacking his brother to death in Barangay Duran last week.
The case was filed on Wednesday, November 20, before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against 58-year-old Walter Felarca for the killing of his 60-year-old brother, Jose Sonny Felarca, on the evening of November 16, 2024.
Authorities suspect a longstanding grudge as the motive behind the fatal incident, which occurred in the presence of their father, Baldomero Felarca.
The Dumalag Municipal Police Station reported that the altercation between the siblings escalated into violence, leaving Jose Sonny dead at the scene after being repeatedly hacked by Walter.
Baldomero recounted to police that he was at the back of the house when he overheard a heated argument between his sons. He tried to mediate but was ignored.
Police said Walter then attacked Sonny, striking his head and other parts of his body.
Walter fled the scene but later surrendered to authorities with the assistance of a barangay official.
The Dumalag police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
