Veteran outside hitter EJ Laure finally found a new home after departing the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
On November 25, 2024, it was announced that the former University of Santo Tomas (UST) star will be joining the NXLED Chameleons effective this All-Filipino Conference.
The Chameleons also uploaded a graphic post of Laure donning the NXLED uniform with the caption: “EJ’s NEXT STOP: NXLED NATION. Welcome to the NXLED Chameleons, Ennajie Laure!”
Laure last played for Chery Tiggo during the PVL Reinforced Conference and caught everyone by surprise after announcing that she would be leaving the club.
Months after her departure, no team still pulled the trigger in signing the savvy spiker until the All-Filipino Conference kicked off this month.
Laure is expected to play a huge role for the young NXLED squad and will look to use her playoff experience in leading the Chameleons’ ship.
It was a disappointing outing for NXLED during the import-laced conference as they finished at the bottom of the season, missing the playoffs once again.
This All-Filipino Conference, NXLED also started slow and is yet to enter the PVL winning column after two matches.
NXLED was so close to outdueling ZUS Coffee after taking the first set but collapsed in the last three frames to end the match in a 1-3 loss.
Against the more experienced PLDT High-Speed Hitters, the Chameleons gave their all and gave themselves a chance after winning the third set but again, just like their performance against ZUS Coffee, fell short in the end.
Will Laure’s arrival help the Chameleons change their fortunes in the PVL?
