Performance of Schools in Medical and Engineering Licensure Examinations

One afternoon, while sipping coffee, my daughter joyfully informed me that her student ranked No. 7 in the 2024 Midwives Licensure Examination.

A total of 3,997 out of 5,398 examinees, or 74 percent, passed the examination.

The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, ranked No. 7 nationally with a 94.44 percent passing rate among schools with 35 or more examinees and at least an 85 percent passing percentage.

Aizan Marie Ronase Santiago of Iloilo Doctors’ College in Iloilo City ranked No. 7 among the top 10 successful examinees in the Midwives Licensure Examination.

Other top-performing schools in Western Visayas with 35 or more examinees and at least an 85 percent passing rate were Northern Iloilo State University (91.67 percent) and Iloilo Doctors’ College (89.8 percent).

Regionally, five of seven schools in Western Visayas, or 71.4 percent, exceeded the national passing rate.

The region produced 171 passers out of 203 takers, translating to an 84.24 percent passing rate, which was higher than the national rate.

Among the examinees, 23 were repeaters and 180 were first-time takers.

The passing rate for repeaters was 56.52 percent, while first-time takers achieved an 87.78 percent passing rate.

Eight out of 10 examinees in the region were first-time takers.

In the November 2024 Pharmacist Licensure Examination, 2,905 out of 3,778 examinees, or 76.89 percent, passed.

Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod ranked No. 3 nationally with a 94.83 percent passing rate, while Central Philippine University (CPU) ranked No. 7 with a 90.59 percent passing rate among schools with 50 to 99 examinees and at least 80 percent passing percentage.

In the regional tally, Western Visayas produced 190 passers out of 240 takers, or 79.17 percent, surpassing the national passing rate.

The region had 184 first-time takers, with a passing rate of 90.22 percent, and 56 repeaters, with a 42.86 percent passing rate.

In the November 2024 Chemical Engineers Licensure Examination, 688 out of 951 examinees, or 74.34 percent, passed.

The University of the Philippines Visayas in Iloilo City achieved a 100 percent passing rate, ranking No. 1 nationally among schools with 10 or more examinees and at least 80 percent passing rate.

Central Philippine University ranked No. 7 with an 83.33 percent passing rate.

Bobby Gante Maravilla Jr. of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City ranked No. 10 among the top examinees.

Regionally, Western Visayas recorded 57 passers out of 83 takers, or a 68.67 percent passing rate.

Among these, 61 were first-time takers with an 81.97 percent passing rate, while the 22 repeaters had a 31.82 percent passing rate.

In the October 2024 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination, 999 out of 1,964 examinees nationwide, or 50.87 percent, passed.

Western Visayas produced 47 passers out of 93 takers, or a 50.54 percent passing rate.

The region had 34 first-time takers with a 41.18 percent passing rate, while the 59 repeaters achieved a 55.93 percent passing rate.

In the October 2024 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination, 1,126 out of 1,591 examinees nationwide, or 70.77 percent, passed.

Niele Shem Geronimo Bañas of the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas ranked No. 1 in the examination.

Western Visayas produced 86 passers out of 133 takers, or a 64.7 percent passing rate.

The region’s first-time takers, totaling 117, had a passing rate of 66.7 percent, while the 16 repeaters recorded a 50 percent passing rate.
