The Philippine NGO Council on Population Health & Welfare Inc. (PNGOC), in collaboration with MiracleFeet and the Philippine National Clubfoot Program, has partnered with Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids (WALK) Inc. to bring timely and proper treatment to children with clubfoot.
This partnership was formalized through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by PNGOC Executive Director Chi Laigo Vallido and WALK Inc. Founding President Atty. Eduardo Escano.
The event was witnessed by key stakeholders, including:
- Dr. Juanito Javier, Lead Convenor and Chair of the Executive Committee, Philippine National Clubfoot Program
- Melrose S. Lunn, Executive Director, WALK Inc.
- Jess L. Fernandez, President, Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo
- Shalimar Ilejay, Program Manager, Philippine National Clubfoot Program
The partnership aims to extend the reach of clubfoot treatment, initially focusing on Aklan and Panay Island, with plans to serve more children across the country.
“This collaboration is deeply personal for us,” said Vallido. “It’s about reaching out to every child who needs our help and letting their families know they are not alone. No child should miss the chance to walk and explore the world.”
Through joint efforts, PNGOC and WALK Inc. plan to address barriers such as distance, cost, and lack of awareness to ensure that treatment is accessible to more families, especially in underserved areas.
“Each step a child takes after treatment is a step toward a brighter future,” said Escano. “We’re here to make that journey possible for more families, starting in Aklan and Panay Island and reaching beyond.”
