BACOLOD CITY – Two stepbrothers were arrested early Friday in a buy-bust operation at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, following a weeklong investigation into their alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated 240 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 1,632,000 from the suspects, identified as “Jamil,” 28, and his stepbrother “Eric,” 33. Both are residents of Barangay 2.

Police Capt. Genus David, assistant chief of the CDEU, said the younger suspect was on the barangay’s drug watchlist and had been under surveillance as a target for the operation.

David noted that the stepbrothers were classified as high-value individuals.

Authorities launched the operation after receiving reports that the suspects were allegedly selling illegal drugs in the area.

During the bust, police seized PHP 1,000 in marked money and an additional PHP 170 in cash from the suspects.

Both men are currently detained at Police Station 2.

In a separate operation, a 31-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The suspect, identified as “Ching,” was found in possession of 25 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 170,000.

Police also confiscated an improvised glass tooter, PHP 500 in marked money, PHP 300 in cash, a digital weighing scale, and a lighter during the arrest.
