Karl Eldrew Yulo led the Philippine gymnastics team to a stellar performance at the Hong Kong Artistic Gymnastics International Invitation Championships (Chiu Wai Chung Cup), securing a total of seven gold medals.
Yulo dominated the individual all-around event and also topped the floor exercise, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, and still rings categories.
The Philippine junior and senior teams also claimed gold in their respective team events, adding to the country’s remarkable haul of 14 golds, six silvers, and five bronzes.
“It’s a proud moment for our team and our country. Everyone worked hard, and the results speak for themselves,” Yulo said.
Juancho Miguel Besana also emerged as a key contributor, bagging three golds in the individual all-around, floor exercise, and pommel horse, along with silvers in still rings, parallel bars, and vault, and a bronze in horizontal bar.
“The competition was tough, but the support from my teammates pushed me to give my best,” Besana shared.
Other standouts included Justine Ace de Leon, who clinched golds in still rings and parallel bars and a bronze in vault.
Individual brilliance was complemented by strong performances from Hillarion III Palles, John Matthew Vergara, Jhon Romeo Santillan, and Jan Gwynn Timbang, who collectively earned medals in various categories.
