The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is enhancing its domestic and international express mail service by opening new Express Mail Service (EMS) hubs in Manila, Quezon City, Makati Central Post Office, and the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.
Currently, most express mail items are distributed across the National Capital Region from CMEC in Pasay City. The new system will transfer EMS personnel, drivers, and couriers to hubs in Manila, Quezon City, and Makati, where deliveries will originate.
The Manila, Makati, and CMEC Pasay EMS delivery hubs will begin operations on January 13, 2025, while the Quezon City hub has been operational since November 2024.
These hubs aim to provide customers with better access and convenience by offering locations closer to their residences or businesses. Undelivered items will remain at the hubs for seven days, allowing customers time to request redelivery or pick up their parcels without traveling to CMEC in Pasay City.
EMS Next Day Delivery is designed to optimize service in Metro Manila, which represents a significant portion of PHLPost’s delivery volume. This initiative ensures cost efficiency, reduced handling, and real-time tracking capabilities.
The EMS operations will be managed through key hubs in Metro Manila, each serving specific areas:
- Quezon City Central Post Office Hub: Covers Caloocan, Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Novaliches, Quezon City, and Valenzuela.
- Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) Hub: Handles deliveries in Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig.
- Makati Central Post Office Hub: Services Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Pateros.
- Manila Central Post Office Hub: Covers Manila and San Juan.
Domestic express mail within Metro Manila, posted after the 2 p.m. cut-off time at certain post offices, will be delivered within 48 hours. The cut-off time is 2 p.m. for post offices in Caloocan, Valenzuela, Marikina, Novaliches, Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Mandaluyong, San Juan, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Manila. In other NCR areas, including Manila, Makati, Quezon City, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Las Piñas, the cut-off time is 3:30 p.m.
The Next Day Delivery service is tailored to meet customer demands and strengthen PHLPost’s position in the logistics and e-commerce sectors.
PHLPost’s Domestic Express Mail Service (DEMS) remains the fastest way to send urgent messages, business documents, and goods within the Philippines. Items mailed before the cut-off time are typically delivered the next day.
For international deliveries, PHLPost leverages its membership with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and bilateral agreements with 56 countries for the reciprocal exchange of EMS items.
